I would like to make my own skincare from proper aromatherapy recipe books and eventually sell them?

Posted on September 15th, 2008 by admin

Is this allowed or is it necessary to do a course. I don’t like the idea of having to do a 3 year course, If there are shorter courses in WA I would prefer?
I’m sure it’s allowed! If you make them properly and label them correctly — with the list of ingredients and a ‘warning’ that it’s homemade. People do it all the time on e-bay, and I think that’s a good place to sell them. Make sure you include (if you should sell on e-bay) information about the book you got the recipie from.

Answer from Serene Aromatherapy:

You can always take an aromatherapy course via the Internet. What you read in books is not always reliable. As a certified aromatherapist I always suggest that people take an aromatherapy course so that they can learn to use Essential Oils safely and effectively. A good aromatherapy course will also teach you how to make your own blends for aromatherapy recipes so you can have truly original aromatherapy products to sell or use.

What dilution of essential oils should I use?

Posted on September 15th, 2008 by admin

I want to make some massage oil – how much essential oil should I put in 100ml grapeseed oil? Also want to make some scented cream – how much essential oil goes in 100ml aqueous cream? Don’t want to put too much and do myself a mischief! I did an aromatherapy course ages ago so I know the basics but am sooo rusty… 3 drops of essential oil to 10ml (2teaspoons) carrier oil. 6 drops of essential oil to 20ml carrier oil 15 drops of essential oil to 50ml carrier oil 30 drops of essential oil to 100ml carrier oil. Recipes The de-stresser= 2 dr lavender, 2dr chamomile 2 dr bergamot The revitaliser= 2dr lemon 2dr black pepper 2 dr rosemary The hormone balancer= 3dr geranium 2 dr cypress 1 dr rose The night of passion= 1dr jasmine 1dr rose 2 dr sandlewood 2 dr ylang ylang all the above to mix with 20ml carrier oil you could try mixing with cream but do smaller amounts as it dosent keep so well. enjoy ! powered by Yahoo answers

Note From Sharron: Dilutiions really depend on what you are using the essential Oil for. If you are using it on children, the elderly or skincare you would use much less. Check out my site for more information on Dilution Rates

Posted on September 15th, 2008 by admin

There are a lot of commercials out in the media today touting Aromatherapy, but did you notice that they are all geared towards Women?

What about Men?  Aren’t men interested in Aromatherapy too? Of course they are! Aromatherapy Courses aren’t just made for women but Men also play a huge part in the search for alternatives.

Aromatherapy Courses teach you all about how to relieve stress and tension. Don’t men suffer from theses symptoms?

Aromatherapy Courses teach about thinning hair and common complaints such as athletes foot. Don’t men suffer from these ailments?

What about strained muscles from playing sports? Don’t men need to know how to make a good aromatherapy blend to help reduce the pain of overworked muscles? An Aromatherapy Course teaches how to make blends.

Do you know that it was a man who first coined the word “Aromatherapy”? Yes Rene Gattefosse.

So Yes, Aromatherapy Courses are just as valuable for men as they are for women.
