Sharron Myers Certified Aromatherapist

First the obvious: I am a teacher and have written Foundations in Aromatherapy Level I ,an aromatherapy course which far exceeds the standards set up for a Level I Course, and I am presently working on the Level II  Aromatherapy Course. I have also written ebooks on Aromatherapy. Also published the Book “Ailments & Alternatives in Aromatherapy” a handy desk reference for aromatherapy. Some people spell this aroma-therapy. Just a brief bio on who I am. My name is Sharron Myers and I am a Certified Aromatherapist. I am the owner of Serene Aromatherapy and also do consulting. I have studied Essential Oils and Aromatherapy since 1991, although I was always interested in Alternative Healing. I have my diploma in Floristry and Flower Arranging also, this is probably why I love flowers and their essences so much. I was also published in the American Massage Therapist Association Magazine in their Winter 2000 Issue. I was asked by them to write an article especially for massage therapist so I wrote a large 2 page article entitled “Adding Power to Your Petrisage”.  This was a special edition about Tools of the Trade for massage therapists. I’ll get a scan of it and put it up on the net one of these days. I love to sing and play music, piano, keyboard, organ and accordion. I was the worship leader at our local church for many years and also a guest soloist and speaker at many local venues here in Chateauguay, Quebec. We live on the South Shore of Montreal. So, that makes me Canadian eh? So I suppose that is enough about me. Thanks for stopping by. Still Working on the Aromatherapy Course Level II For You

Posted on September 24th, 2008 by admin

Hi Everyone

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. I’ve been very busy working on the second part of the Aromatherapy Course for my students. Aromatherapy Courses can’t just be thrown together in a day or two.

It’s important that the teacher of the aromatherapy course is taking the time to do the proper research to be certain that her students have up to date information.

Hopefully I will find the time to write another blog post soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions feel free to get in touch with me.

Aromatherapy Courses: Are They for Men?

Posted on September 15th, 2008 by admin

There are a lot of commercials out in the media today touting Aromatherapy, but did you notice that they are all geared towards Women?

What about Men?  Aren’t men interested in Aromatherapy too? Of course they are! Aromatherapy Courses aren’t just made for women but Men also play a huge part in the search for alternatives.

Aromatherapy Courses teach you all about how to relieve stress and tension. Don’t men suffer from theses symptoms?

Aromatherapy Courses teach about thinning hair and common complaints such as athletes foot. Don’t men suffer from these ailments?

What about strained muscles from playing sports? Don’t men need to know how to make a good aromatherapy blend to help reduce the pain of overworked muscles? An Aromatherapy Course teaches how to make blends.

Do you know that it was a man who first coined the word “Aromatherapy”? Yes Rene Gattefosse.

So Yes, Aromatherapy Courses are just as valuable for men as they are for women.

From The National: Complementary or Quakery?

Posted on September 1st, 2008 by admin

Quote: Doctors, quite rightly, are proud of what they do and the amount of study they have to put in to enter their profession. The idea that someone can do a three-month aromatherapy course and set themselves up in business as a health professional causes, at best, a level of bemusement; at worst, it triggers downright outrage. The medical community has to a large degree closed itself off to the very idea that alternative therapies have benefits. They want to protect their profession from pseudoscience. End Quote

My Reply: As a trained certified aromatherapist, I personally take offense to this type of thinking:

“The idea that someone can do a three-month aromatherapy course and set themselves up in business as a health professional causes, at best, a level of bemusement; at worst, it triggers downright outrage.”

I agree it is ridiculous for people to take a few workshops and set up business as an aromatherapist. Proper study from a reliable aromatherapy course is what qualifies you to become an aromatherapist. A Health Professional, in my mind is completely different.

As a certified aromatherapist, we do not prescribe or pretend to diagnose sickness. We do not pretend to be doctors. Aromatherapy Courses teach us how to relieve stress, how to compliment health & healing. End of Reply.

I don’t know about you, but things like this steams me up a bit.

All the more reason to tell you all again. An Aromatherapy Course is what you need in order to understand aromatherapy and essential oils properly and how to use them safely and effectively.

I close with that for today.

Please feel free to comment if you wish

Aromatherapy Course: Reviews, Testimonials From Our Students

Posted on August 30th, 2008 by admin

Reviews, Testimonials
From Our Students

~ I took an Aromatherapy course before in Massage school I, and this course had SO much more information than I could have ever imagined. It was like my Massage class was just the tip of the Aromatherapy Iceberg.

This course is worth EVERY PENNY and SO MUCH MORE! I’ve looked at many books on Aromatherapy and took other classes, but nothing that even compares to this.

It is a great reference manual and you can refer back to it as you progress in the future.

The Foundations Course has wonderful detail and nice quizzes at the end of each chapter. You can study at your own pace. If you don’t understand something, you can go back and try it again.

Sharron is a wonderful teacher and always just an email away. She helped me out quite a few times during my study and is such a nice and caring person.

If you even remotely have an interest in Aromatherapy, I highly recommend the Foundations Course. You will not be disappointed.

I simply can’t say enough about this course. I actually took a course before costing me $1,200 to get my certification. I wanted to take this course just for the fun to see what was in it. Well I was so surprised!

This aromatherapy course offered so much information and was so well laid out. It was 10 times better than the course I spent $1,200 dollars on!

Way to go Sharron. You’re a great teacher and I hope many others will be smart enough to take the time to read your course.

I cannot tell you how excited I was to read all of your valuable information and it was fun to actually try some of the “recipes” myself.

You’re course is awesome! It went into more detail than the “certified clinical aromatherapy” course that I paid a heck of alot more money for!

Good Job Sharon :)

I learned more about blending oils in the 7 groups for perfumery, balms and body sprays. It is very well explained.

Yes you can use my recommendation :)

Sharon has put together a wonderful course on the “Foundations of Aromatherapy”.

If you are new to aromatherapy and would like to learn a little about it, then I highly recommend this course!

Sharon’s course is very detailed and is professionally layed out.

I have taken other courses before for alot more money and they were not near as informative as this.

You definately won’t be going wrong, you are getting great information here from a professional!!!

Hello Sharon,
Wow!!! What a Great book you have written, it was very thorough. I truly enjoyed it!!!

My favorite chapters were Lesson 2 , lesson 4, lesson 6, Really all the lessons were great. I can not say enough.

The quizzes were not too bad, I miss some of them.

YOU are a wealth of knowledge.

Thank you so much

Aromatherapy Courses: Should I Take One?

Posted on August 29th, 2008 by admin

A lot of people today wonder if taking an aromatherapy course is necessary. If you are one of these people then please let me explain why I think you should be taking an aromatherapy course.

I know, I know, you are all thinking “Of course, she is going to talk about the how great aromatherapy courses are! She wrote one!”

But really, even if I were not a certified Aromatherapist I would still suggest you take an aromatherapy course. I obviously did, but perhaps for different reasons than you would choose.

There IS a lot of information available on the internet in regards to aromatherapy but not all of it is truthful.

In fact, there are actually some very dangerous practices going on that a newbie to aromatherapy would think is perfectly fine.

By taking a good aromatherapy course you would know what is safe and what is dangerous when it comes to using essential oils.

Perhaps you only want to dabble in aromatherapy for personal pleasure. Should you take an aromatherapy course if that is your only desire? Definitely yes!

Would you really like to find out that you did something dangerous when applying essential oils to yourself or your family?

Taking an aromatherapy course will allow you to find out how to use essential oils effectively and safely. An aromatherapy course can give you ideas on how to use aromatherapy in ways you may not have considered before.

You don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get a good aromatherapy course. You don’t need to become a certified Aromatherapist in order to enjoy the benefits of an aromatherapy course either.

Here are just a few examples of why an aromatherapy course would be good for you to take:
• There is misleading information on the Internet
• Essential oils can be toxic. You need to know the contraindications of these oils.
• An aromatherapy course will save you a lot of time and error
• You will learn which essential oils are best for various symptoms
• You will learn which oils are best to use on children and the elderly
• You will be able to be a more knowledgeable caregiver to your aging parents
• A good Aromatherapy Course will teach you which oils are good for men, young women, older women, children, and the elderly

So, should You take an aromatherapy course? Definitely Yes!
Remember, Aromatherapy courses are not just for aromatherapists. Be informed and take an aromatherapy course so that you can safely and effectively use essential oils for yourself and for your family.
