aromatherapy contraindications?
Posted on September 15th, 2008 by admin
I am doing an aromatherapy course at he moment and cannot find references to why recent operations/severe bruising/swelling/varacouse veins/cuts and scar tissue/skin infections are contraindicated, every web site just say that they are contraindicated but don`t say why. any feedback welcome thankyou
Essential oils are very strong, concentrated and often toxic substances that can be damaging to skin and so should only be used on healty skin. Can irritate and exacerbate infections, varicose veins and should never be used on broken skin unless expressly told to do so by a qualified practitioner.

essential oils can be posioious /toxic if got into a open wound so it is better till it is all healed. skin infections is a contraindication to any treatment, it spreads infection to other parts of the body. Never heard it for scar tissue because there is some oils that helps this problem.
